The Annual Phillips' Mill 78th Juried Art Exhibition will open its doors on September 22nd. It is the first and most continuous art event exhibiting the works of Delaware Valley artists. This show which accepts only artists living within a 25 mile radius of Phillips' Mill is considered to be an important way to see the works of this areas best artists. The Exhibition takes place each fall and is not only a favorite with local art lovers, but also draws collectors and gallery as well as auction owners from New York City, Philadelphia, New Jersey and other areas. As all art work is for sale, this is a wonderful opportunity to purchase some great pieces.
Over the past 77 years, the Art Committee has welcomed artists working in a wide variety of media and styles thus keeping the annual event fresh and in pace with the larger American Art Scene. Oils, watercolors, prints, mixed media, drawings and sculpture are all well represented. The Exhibition includes modern and abstract work as well as traditional styles. This is a juried show with jurors chosen from artists and educators that changes annually. Of the over 540 pieces of art submitted by artists this year, the panel of jurors has the most difficult task of narrowing it down to about 200 pieces for inclusion in this years show.
Each year a variety of cash awards are presented to the artists at the discretion of the jurors. This year 39 awards are being presented with a total cash amount of over $15,000.00.
Phillips' Mill 78th Juried Art Exhibition will open its' doors to the public on September 22 and run through October 28. The show is open daily from 1-5pm. Adults-$3 Seniors-$2 Students-$1.
