Jurors selected for the
79th Phillips' Mill Art Exhibition
New Hope, PA - The 79th Annual Phillips’ Mill Art Exhibition Committee has announced the distinguished group of artists who have been selected to jury this year’s show. All Phillips’ Mill committee members for the Jury Selection are artists themselves. They review each potential candidate and unanimously agree on each selection. The selected jurors will choose the art to be exhibited in this prestigious annual show and decide on the awards to be presented. The Phillips’ Mill Art Exhibition is the first and most continuous art event exhibiting the works of Delaware Valley artists. This show which accepts only artists living within a 25 mile radius of Phillips’ Mill is considered to be an important way to see the works of this areas best artists.

Jurors for Paintings and Graphics
Douglas Wiltraut is one of America’s foremost painters in egg tempera and dry brush watercolor. He holds a BFA in Painting and is currently the President of the National Society of Painters in Casein & Acrylic. He has been the recipient of the Butler Institute of America Art Award, the Today’s Art Medal, the Knickerbocker Artists Gold and Silver Medals of Honor and three times the recipient of the Ralph Fabri Medal. In 1999 he was awarded the Adirondacks Wilderness Award with the Rouse Gold Medallion followed by the Trails & Streams Medal in 2000, both in the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors. Wiltraut was the subject of a feature article on egg tempera painting in both American Artist and the Artist’s Magazine. He has conducted the Brandywine Workshop in egg tempera painting for American Artist Magazine and his work was included in the American Artist Golden Anniversary Exhibition and the Berman Museum of Art Inaugural Exhibition.
Carole Pickle has been entering juried national art shows since 1990 and has won many awards including the Clara Stroud Memorial Award in the American Watercolor Society, Best of Show in Southern Watercolor, the Silver Medal in the Mid-Atlantic Regional Watercolor Exhibition and the Gurdon and Mildred Evans Memorial award in the Adirondacks National Exhibition of American Watercolors. Pickle won second place in the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society’s 26th International Juried Exhibition and was also a Sylvan Grouse Guild winner. She is a member of the American Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Society, Rocky Mountain National Watermedia, Kentucky Watercolor Society, National Watercolor Oklahoma, Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, Southern Watercolor Society and Baltimore Watercolor Society. Pickle was a juror for the 85th National Watercolor Society’s Annual Juried Exhibition held in Los Angeles, CA.
Michael Kuncevich a native Philadelphian is a graduate of the University of The Arts, studied at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts and received his Masters Degree from the Tyler School of Art of Temple University. He is a teacher, painter and printmaker. He has been President of the Montgomery County Art Teachers Group and also the Philadelphia Art Teachers Association. He is Director Emeritus of the University City Arts League, Philadelphia, having been the Founding President. Mr. Kuncevich is a member of the Philadelphia Sketch Club, the Fellowship of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, the American Color Print Society and is a signature member of the Philadelphia Watercolor Society. He is past President of the Philadelphia Chapter of National Artists Equity and a past Chairman of the Board of the Rittenhouse Fine Arts Association. Kuncevich’s work has been exhibited at the Philadelphia Civic Center, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, the Woodmere Art Museum, the Port of History Museum and many other area institutions. He has won various awards for his work and is represented in collections in Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey, California, Florida, North Carolina, Canada, England, Germany and China.
Jurors for Sculpture
James L. Gafgen is a lifelong resident of Bucks County. Over the past 40 years he has developed his artistic skills in all aspects of sculpture. Gafgen exhibits and sells his sculpture both locally and internationally, working with public and private institutions and collectors. Gafgen has worked at the prestigious sculpture foundry, Johnson Atelier Technical Institute for Sculpture in Mercerville, NJ where he was recognized as one of the leading sculptors in the Modeling and Enlarging Department. He is known for his realistic way of portraying his subjects as well as his gift for capturing details. His work includes historic personalities, musical and athletic figures, wildlife, Native Americans, portrait statuary, monuments and memorials. Gafgen served as a judge in Audubon Artist’s 54th annual juried exhibition at Historic Federal Hall on Wall Street in New York City.
Kristy Krivitsky holds an M.F.A in sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and is currently the Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at the James A. Michener Art Museum, Doylestown. Krivitsky’s professional experience includes Adjunct Instructor of Art at Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, PA, Ashland University, Ashland, OH, York College of Pennsylvania, York, PA, Lebanon Valley College, Annville, PA, and Pennsylvania College of Art & Design, Lancaster, PA.
She was also the Gallery Director for the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design in Lancaster, PA. Krivitsky had curated a variety of Exhibitions, has had articles appear in many publications and has had several one and two person exhibitions. She has taken part in many selected Invitational and Juried Exhibitions in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Louisiana, New York, Texas, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, Kansas and Illinois and her work is part of a variety of collections including The Brooklyn Museum of Art, NY, The Museum of Modern Art, NY, The New York Public Library, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, CA, Stedeliik Museum, Amsterdam and the Museum of Beaux Arts, Antwerp, Belgium.

Artists wishing to enter will bring their work with a prospectus to Phillips' Mill on Friday, September 5 from 2:00-7:00PM and on Saturday, September 6 from 11:00AM-4:00PM. Jurying will take place on Sunday September 7.
