The 83rd Annual Phillips’ Mill Juried Art Exhibition opened its doors to the public on Saturday, September 22, 2012. It was a huge success, with almost 2,000 visitors.
This prestigious and well known art exhibition is the oldest and most continuous art event exhibiting the works of Delaware Valley artists. It accepts entries only from artists living within a 25 mile radius of Phillips’ Mill. Each year, the Art Committee welcomes artists working in a wide variety of media and styles. Works selected for the Exhibition include oils, watercolors, prints, mixed media, drawings and sculpture, and modern, abstract, representational and traditional styles.
In 2012, over 360 artists submitted works, from which 93 framed pieces and 20 sculptures were chosen. Twenty cash awards were presented, totaling $10,900 in prize money.
Our Meet the Artist series is an increasingly popular and important segment of the show, engaging both students and the general public in conversations about the creative process.
In addition, the Art Committee also arranged to have a group of students from New Hope/Solebury High School meet with Pat Martin, the 2012 Honored Artist, for a discussion of her work and the art world. And students from Bucks County Community College met at the Exhibition with the Exhibition’s sculpture juror, Mark Sfirri.
We thank you all for your support of this important cultural event in Bucks County. The 84th Annual Exhibition will open its doors in September 2013. More information will be posted here as that date approaches.
