Freeman's Highlights Exhibition at Historic Phillips’ Mill
Freeman’s Auction House Presents
Highlights Exhibition at Historic Phillips’ Mill
May 22-24, 2023
Freeman’s auction house, in collaboration with Phillips’ Mill and the New Hope Colony Foundation for the Arts, is presenting a special exhibition in advance of its upcoming spring sales of American works, which will feature an impressive number of Pennsylvania Impressionists.
“We are pleased to present this special Highlights Exhibition at the celebrated Phillips’ Mill, the birthplace of the New Hope School of the Pennsylvania Impressionist movement, from May 22 to May 24, 2023,” says Raphaël Chatroux, fine art specialist at Freeman’s. The exhibition brings a selection of works by some of Phillips’ Mill’s founding members back home to the Mill.
The show provides art collectors and art lovers the opportunity to view masterworks from the Collection of Sydney F. Martin. Among those works will be Edward Redfield’s “Spring Veil,” Morgan Colt’s “A Glorious Day” and Daniel Garber’s newly discovered “On the Delaware River.” A dedicated single-owner sale of these works will be held at Freeman’s on June 4.
Also on view will be selected highlights from the Papageorge family collection in Carversville, to be offered as part of a single-owner section in Freeman’s marquee American Art sale, also on June 4. This sale will include a selection of fine oils by John Fulton Folinsbee.
This special collection to be exhibited at the Mill will also include works by Fern Coppedge, Robert Spencer, George Sotter and William Lathrop.
The Highlights Exhibition is free and open to the public at the Mill for three days only:
Monday, May 22, 12 to 5 pm
Tuesday, May 23, 11 am to 5 pm
Wednesday, May 24, 10 am to 12 pm
