Marshall and Lathrop Circle members of the Mill were recently treated to a splendid afternoon at the historic home of Linda and Paul Macht in Carversville.
Linda gave guests a tour of the early 18th-century house, formerly the long-term residence of Charles Hargens, a prominent painter and illustrator of the American West. Paul led tours of the barn, once Hargens’ art studio and now the studio for Macht Architecture. And several people who knew Hargens well relayed fascinating details about the artist.
Old stone walls under the spacious trellised patio provided a scenic setting for refreshments and the fine hors d’oeuvres prepared by Thyme and Plate Catering of Carversville.
This annual event, sponsored by the Mill Board of Directors, is a highlight of the Mill’s social scene. Want to attend next year’s event? Great. Just join at the Marshall Circle or Lathrop Circle level.
