Congratulations to Mill Members Accepted in the Philadelphia Sketch Club Exhibition

Three Mill member artists have had paintings accepted in the Philadelphia Sketch Club’s annual Small Oils Exhibition. Gene Underwood, from Buckingham, will exhibit the still life “Whittled and Kneaded.” Doylestown’s Janine Dunn Wade, last year’s Honored Artist at the 95th Juried Art Show at Phillips’ Mill, will exhibit two interiors, “Mad Hatter Daffodils” and “Teapot and Jazz.” Matt DeProspero, proprietor of Lambertville’s MADE Gallery, will show a portrait titled “Firefly.”

The Philadelphia Sketch Club on tiny, picturesque Camac Street, is America’s oldest art club and has been operating continuously since 1860. Thomas Eakins taught there, and prominent artists such as N. C. Wyeth have served as president. The selected painters stand in a tradition of Bucks County artists included in Philadelphia Sketch Club shows. Walter Baum, Daniel Garber, Edward Redfield, and more recently, Ranulph Bye and Robert Beck, have all exhibited there.

The Small Oils Exhibition runs from September 7 until September 28. Admission is free. The gallery is open on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, from 1 pm until 5 pm, and by appointment. There will be a reception on Sunday, September 14, from 1 pm until 3 pm. The Sketch Club is located at 235 South Camac Street, Philadelphia.
